What it means to walk by the Holy Spirit Today I found myself meditating on Gal. 5:16 the whole day, asking myself what it means to walk by the Holy Spirit…keeping in step with Him. “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.” Galatians 5:16-18 As I examine myself, I realize that there are many times I respond to issues in the flesh; basically as a natural man. I tend to use the common senses more to interpret situations rather than allowing the Spirit of God in me to guide me in the truth. And so today I constantly asked the Spirit to help me perceive things through Him and to quicken scripture in my heart. This is because scripture is inspired by Him to instruct us, correct us, rebuke us… e.g. when I am tempted to act in anger, He reminds me that in my anger I should not sin; that human anger doesn’t bring out God’s righteousness, etc… If I may ask: how are you walking by the Spirit? What’s your struggle? What do you make of the verses above?

FEBRUARY 2025 | Edition 5 | The 14 People Who Will Not Settle: Part 1 Beloved, Settlement is God’s desire for His people, but not everyone experiences it. Some attitudes and choices hinder divine settlement. As we continue trusting God to settle His people, let us examine the first six types of people who struggle to settle—and how to overcome these barriers. Brace yourself for transformation! 1. The Unbelieving: Those Who Walk in the Flesh These people refuse to perceive and to believe what the Lord is doing. You can never settle until you believe! Faith is the foundation of our walk with God. Without it, settlement remains a distant dream. Hebrews 11:6 – “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Receiving the word in the flesh profits nothing; it must be mixed with faith. Hebrews 4:2 – “For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.” 2. The Unfaithful Faithfulness is a requirement for divine settlement. 1 Corinthians 4:2 – “Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.” Your settlement is tied to your ability to be faithful in the little you have been entrusted with. 3. The One Who Fails to Catch the Vision A vision is not just for the one who casts it but for those who receive and run with it. Habakkuk 2:2 – “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it.” When you embrace and run with the vision, it begins to bless you and open doors. 4. The Lazy Person Settlement requires effort, diligence, and hard work. Laziness leads to stagnation. 2 Thessalonians 3:10 – “For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.” Why desire blessings you have not labored for? Wake up and work! Proverbs 10:4 – “He who has a slack hand becomes poor, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.” Wealth is in your hands—wake up and work of it. In other words, put in the effort! 5. The One Who Dishonors God God hates dishonor and He responds when men fail to honor Him. If you want God to settle you this year, decide to honor everything that is related to Him. In 1 Samuel 2:27-29 – We learn about the prophecy against Eli’s household due to dishonor. 6. The Unwilling to Serve Service in the Kingdom is a privilege, not a burden. Numbers 16:9 – “Is it a small thing to you that the God of Israel has separated you to do the work of the tabernacle and to stand before the congregation to serve them?” David desired to serve the Lord at all times. He longed to be a doorkeeper, an usher in God’s house. Serve with dignity and honor, for God lifts those who serve Him faithfully! FEBRUARY 2025 | Edition 4| Settlement in Ministry God is Calling Us to Serve Many believers struggle with commitment in ministry, yet serving God is not about titles or positions; it is a heart decision. Ministry is not just for pastors, bishops, or church leaders—it is for everyone who has accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Jesus Himself set the greatest example: “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” —Mark 10:45 If the King of Kings, who came down from heaven—a place free from suffering—chose to serve, how much more should we? Why Serve the Lord? 1. It is a Personal Decision Serving the Lord is not something you do because of pressure from others. It is a choice, just like salvation. The best decision you ever made was accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and savior. The second most important decision is committing to serve Him. 2. Service is a Sacrifice Serving God means laying down your life for others, just as Jesus did. It requires dedication and surrender. 3. Your Service is Not in Vain “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” —1 Corinthians 15:58 Even when challenges arise, remain steadfast. God sees your labor, and He will reward you. The Challenge of Worldly Distractions Many begin serving with passion, but as time passes, the world pulls them away. The Bible warns about this: “Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world.” —2 Timothy 4:10 Who you feed will determine who wins the battle—your spiritual man or your flesh. If you want to stay on fire from January to December, you must cut ties with worldly distractions and focus on God. Be a Pillar, Not a Seasonal Servant Consistency in ministry is key. Don’t serve only when it’s convenient—become a pillar in the house of God. Someone is watching and following your example. “Don’t just serve; be consistent. Don’t be missing in action—God has called you for a purpose!” Final Encouragement If you have decided to serve the Lord, do it with all your heart. Let your service be a reflection of your love for Christ. Remember: ✅ Service is a calling. ✅ Service is a commitment. ✅ Service is a sacrifice. ✅ Service is a blessing! “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” —Joshua 24:15 This month, make a fresh commitment to serve in your church, in your community, and wherever God has placed you. Gleanings For the Soul 2.2.2025
In the journey of life we sometimes encounter heavy battles that we don’t know how we will ever get out of. Sometimes it’s deep sorrow over loss of loved ones, rejection, abandonment, hatred and malice. But even in such times God is still at work; He is still speaking though our hearts and ears may not be hearing because the pains muffs His voice. The song I have shared here used to bring so much pain after I lost my dear husband, Tony in 1998. I somehow couldn’t listen to it because we used to have a cassette that had this and other Maranatha songs, which we both loved. God was speaking through it but my pain was too deep. Hearing the song delved me down into a pit of sorrowful memories. But today I listen to this song whenever I need to look at my difficult seasons through eyes of faith. I know without a doubt that He gives my heart courage to soldier on. May you also match on through your wilderness, loss, pain and lack with a heart courageous after Him, Christ our Lord and helper. JANUARY 2025 Edition 3 | Power of vision Beloved, as we embrace this year’s theme Settle, it is essential to understand that true settlement begins with vision. Vision is seeing your future before you get there, and without it, you will drift aimlessly through life. The Three F’s of Vision Every vision goes through three critical stages: Finding your vision, focusing on your vision, and Fighting for your vision. These three steps act as a guide to ensuring that you not only discover your purpose but also stay on course and overcome obstacles until your vision becomes a reality. 1. Find your Vision Just as manufacturers create with purpose, we too must live with intention. We were not called to be mere consumers but to be creators, givers and builders. There are different types of vision—personal, corporate, and even global—but whatever vision God has placed in your heart, you must identify it and run with it (Habakkuk 2:2). 2. Focus on your Vision Distractions are the enemies of destiny. Joseph had a vision of greatness, but when he shared it prematurely, his brothers tried to destroy him. Nehemiah faced intense opposition when rebuilding the walls, yet he refused to be discouraged. Likewise, stay focused, refuse to be diverted, and do not allow negative voices to shake your faith. The only thing that is permanent is God’s Word—your trials will pass! 3. Fight for Your Vision A God-given vision will always face opposition, but you must be willing to fight. The kingdom of God suffers violence, and only the violent take it by force (Matthew 11:12). Nehemiah and his fellow builders worked with one hand while holding a weapon in the other (Nehemiah 4:17)—this is the mindset you must adopt. Fight for your family and loved ones who do not yet know Christ. Fight for your ministry and your calling. Fight for your health, your dreams, and your destiny. Fight against discouragement, opposition, and fear. Change Your Self-Talk! What you say to yourself matters more than what anyone else says to you, even your pastor. Change your self-talk—speak like a believer and transform your life forever. The woman with the issue of blood declared, “If I touch the hem of His garment, I will be made whole”—and she was! Paul said, “I can do all things through Christ”—and clearly he did! Stop speaking doubt and start declaring victory. The Fight Doesn’t End Until the Promise is Fulfilled! The most difficult time is between the promise and its fulfillment. But remember, God has the blueprint—He sees the finished work. Do not fear; stand still and see the salvation of the Lord! “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Proverbs 18:21 Fellow Kenyan, what are you saying about our nation? Your words and mine matter so much! Do I have anyone here who is a Christ follower and who loves our nation enough to speak God’s Word over it? Is your tongue killing or giving life to the nation? Lord have mercy on Kenya; forgive Kenya; heal and restore your glory in Kenya! Lord, bless Kenya. In Jesus Christ’s name!!
Gleanings For The Soul 1st July 2024
The older I get, the more I realize that there’s so much I still don’t know or understand. It humbles me and excites me as well to keep seeking wisdom from others around me; I learn from my friends and family; I keep learn from my children; I actually keep learning from my granddaughter!! But more importantly, I learn something new daily from scripture and from the insight of the Holy Spirit. I find myself repentant and humbled by these insights. I don’t how I would get through life without God’s guidance and the truth of His Word. Is anyone in need of wisdom as you make an important decision for your life? Or just a Word to guide you through the day? It’s available everyday, all day. You could pray with the psalmist in Psalms 25:4-5: “Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.”
