Gleanings For The Soul

Today I want to share with you something I read on God’s indwelling presence. Paul asked the Corinthians a thought-provoking question in 1 Cor. 3:16: “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?”

In the Old Testament God designated places for people to meet with Him – the Garden, tents, the tabernacle, the temple… and appointed priests to mediate between a Holy God and sinful people. But when Christ came, He fulfilled the promise of ‘Emmanuel, God with us’, as Jesus dwelt among His people. And at Pentecost after Jesus’ death and resurrection, the Holy Spirit came and dwelt in the believers. For every believer, “you are the place where His Spirit now dwells; You are the vessel in which He lives, moves, works and empowers. You are the place where heaven has crashed into earth”. What a blessing and miracle!!
