INTRODUCTION Have you ever seen someone walk into a room and instantly feel their presence? Not because they are loud or trying to impress, but because there’s something deeper about them, a quiet confidence, a clear sense of purpose, a life that feels aligned. And if you’re honest, there’s something in you that recognizes it. You know that’s how you’re meant to live. You don’t struggle with believing that God is powerful. You’ve heard the stories. You know what He has done. But the real question is this: Is that power showing up in your life right now? Because Walking in Power is not just a theme for the year. It’s a call to stop living passively and start living intentionally. The Foundation: It Starts With Knowing God Everything begins with John 17:3. Before strategies, before plans, before goals there is relationship. Knowing God is not something you add to your life; it is the source of everything that should flow from it. When that foundation is weak, everything else begins to feel inconsistent. You may try to fix habits, improve discipline, or make better decisions, but without that connection, the results won’t last. So take a moment and be honest with yourself: are you building a relationship with God, or are you simply maintaining a routine? 7 Keys to Walking in Power Walking in Power Is Lived, Not Theoretical. This is where things become real. Power is not something you talk about it’s something you live out daily. 1.Seek God First It begins with seeking God first , not occasionally or only when things go wrong, but consistently. If you want stability in your life, your connection with God cannot be random. What you prioritize daily will shape who you become. 2. Be Intentional About Your Relationships At the same time, you have to become intentional about your relationships. Not everyone should have the same level of access to your life. Some people strengthen your direction, while others slowly weaken it. This doesn’t mean cutting people off harshly, but it does require honesty. Your environment will either support your growth or quietly fight against it. 3. Grow in Financial Stewardship That same level of responsibility extends to your finances. Ecclesiastes 7:12 reminds you that wisdom protects, and that includes how you handle money. Growing in financial knowledge, managing what you already have well, and honoring God with what He has given you are not optional they are part of walking in power. Because if you mismanage what is small, more will only expose the problem. 4. Explore New Opportunities Growth also demands that you step beyond what is familiar. Proverbs 13:11 shows that increase comes through wisdom and consistency. That means improving your skills, exploring new ideas, and taking steps toward opportunities instead of waiting for the perfect moment. The truth is, that moment rarely comes you create it by acting. 5.Build Better Habits Then there are your habits the part most people avoid. It’s easy to talk about change, but your daily routine always tells the truth. Your health, your discipline, and your consistency all matter. People don’t need to hear what you plan to do; they need to see what is actually changing in your life. 6. Dream Bigger Somewhere along the way, many people also shrink their dreams. Fear, delay, and past disappointment have a way of lowering expectations. But that mindset cannot remain. You are not meant to think small. When you look at David facing Goliath, you see someone who didn’t shrink back. He stepped forward because he understood who he was. That same mindset is required of you. 7.Plan Better and Let Peace Lead Finally, you cannot ignore the importance of planning. Living randomly will always produce inconsistent results. Planning gives direction, but it must be paired with peace. Philippians 4:6 and Isaiah 41:10 remind you not to let anxiety control your decisions. You are called to plan your life but not from a place of fear. What This Means for You Now All of this comes down to one thing action. Messages don’t change lives. What you do with them does. So as you move forward, start making this practical. Choose to seek God daily before anything else competes for your attention. Take an honest look at your relationships and decide who needs closer access and where boundaries are necessary. Begin to handle your finances with greater awareness and responsibility, even if you start small. Stop delaying the opportunity you’ve been thinking about and take one step toward it. Commit to one habit that supports your health and stick with it consistently. Write down the dream you’ve been avoiding and bring it before God instead of ignoring it. And when anxious thoughts come, replace them with truth instead of letting them control you. You don’t need to do everything at once but you do need to start. Final Thought You were not created to simply get by. You were not meant to live passively or settle into routine. You were called to walk in power in your decisions, your discipline, your relationships, and your purpose. But this year will not change just because time has passed. It will change if you do. So the question is simple: Are you actually going to walk in power or are you just going to keep talking about it?
Plug In Youth Camp 2026 – A Generation Fully Plugged In
The 2026 Plug In Youth Camp, in partnership with Count Me In , was nothing short of life-changing. Hosted at Faith Premier High School, the three-day experience brought together over 230 young people from different branches of Overcoming Faith Church for a time of spiritual renewal, fellowship, empowerment, and unforgettable moments. From the very first night, the atmosphere was electric. What began as a camp quickly turned into an encounter filled with vibrant praise and worship, energetic dance sessions, exciting games, and genuine community. The youths came ready with expectation, and God met them powerfully. Special appearances by talented ministers and hypemen including Timeless Noel and Eko Dydda added even more fire to the experience, creating moments of celebration and joy that will not soon be forgotten. Throughout the camp, the young people were challenged to grow spiritually, mentally, and personally. One of the major highlights was a special live session of the Kingdom Business Network hosted by Bishop Peter Ndungu, where the youths had the opportunity to learn practical wisdom on how to start and scale businesses even at a young age. The sessions were engaging, insightful, and deeply inspiring, proving that purpose and leadership can begin early in life. The camp was further enriched by impactful teachings and encouragement from Rev. Faith Ndungu, whose words poured wisdom, hope, and direction into the hearts of many. Every session carried a strong reminder that this generation has been called for impact and kingdom purpose. Beyond the teachings and services, the atmosphere around the camp was alive with activity and connection. From football matches, basketball, kati, table tennis, and competitive Kenya@50 games, to laughter-filled moments in the chill corners, every youth found a space to belong. The kitchen teams, organizers, volunteers, and leaders worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure every detail came together seamlessly, creating an environment where relationships could flourish and memories could be made. Yet, above all the fun and excitement, the greatest highlight of the camp was the move of God. During a powerful ministry session led by Bishop Peter Ndungu, the atmosphere shifted as young people responded to the call of salvation. In a beautiful moment of surrender and transformation, 16 youths gave their lives to Christ. Heaven rejoiced as lives were changed forever, reminding everyone present that God is still touching hearts and raising a generation fully devoted to Him. The Plug In Youth Camp 2026 was more than an event. It was a divine appointment. A place where purpose was awakened, faith was strengthened, gifts were stirred, and young people encountered the presence of God in a fresh way. Vintage Style, Timeless Truths: What Is Life Really About? Laughter echoed through the sanctuary. Vintage hats, suspenders, old-school dresses, and classic outfits filled the room as the youth stepped out in creativity and joy during Youth Sunday. There were songs, dances, poetry presentations, and moments of genuine fellowship that brought generations together in celebration. The atmosphere carried a beautiful reminder: while styles may change with time, God’s truth remains timeless. Behind the fun old-school vibes and vibrant presentations was a deeper question that challenged every heart in the room: What is life really all about? Through a powerful sermon delivered by Rev. Faith, the congregation was reminded that youth is not just a phase to survive or enjoy casually it is a season filled with opportunity, responsibility, tests, and eternal purpose. Main Scripture The sermon was anchored in: Judges 6:11–16 Matthew 19:16–22 These passages reveal two different young men facing moments of decision. Gideon struggled with fear and doubt, yet God saw greatness in him. The rich young ruler had wealth and opportunity, but struggled to surrender fully to God. Together, these scriptures challenge young people to think beyond temporary success and focus on purpose, character, and eternity. Youth: A Season of Opportunity and Risk One of the strongest messages from the sermon was that youth is a time of immense opportunity. It is the season where foundations are laid, dreams are pursued, and futures are shaped. Many young people spend years waiting for the “perfect moment” to start something meaningful. Yet growth rarely happens in comfort zones. Sometimes taking a step of faith means trying a new career path, starting a business idea, pursuing further education, or developing a new skill. Risk is part of growth. At the same time, Rev. Faith emphasized the importance of wisdom during this stage of life. Youth is also a season where many assumptions are made. Wrong decisions, unhealthy influences, and lack of direction can easily derail purpose. That is why mentorship matters deeply. The sermon encouraged young people to connect themselves to godly mentors people who can provide wisdom, correction, accountability, and guidance. A strong foundation today becomes stability tomorrow. Education, discipline, and intentional growth were also highlighted as investments for old age. Whether it is pursuing a degree, diploma, certification, ministry assignment, or business vision, the seeds planted in youth often determine the harvest of later years. The old-school theme of the day beautifully reflected this truth. Many of the vintage styles worn reminded the congregation of previous generations people who built lives through sacrifice, resilience, faith, and perseverance. The message was clear: every generation must decide what legacy it will leave behind. Another major truth shared during the sermon was this: Life is a test. Every challenge, disappointment, success, and delay reveals something about the condition of our hearts. Character is not developed in easy moments alone; it is revealed under pressure. The congregation was reminded that life is full of battles. Some battles test patience. Others test integrity, humility, faithfulness, or endurance. Often, people pray for success without realizing that success itself can become a test of character. Rev. Faith reminded the church that chance happens to everyone. Failure and setbacks are part of the human experience. However, what matters most is how we respond when life becomes difficult. David was used as an example a man who failed in significant ways, yet refused to remain defeated. Despite his mistakes, he believed he could rise again through God’s mercy and grace. This message carried encouragement for anyone feeling discouraged, delayed, or uncertain about their future. Failure does not have the final word when God is still writing your story.The tests of life are not designed to destroy believers; they often expose areas where God desires growth, healing, and deeper trust. Life Is a Trust and a Temporary Assignment The sermon also emphasized that life is a trust given by God. Everything people possess time, gifts, influence, opportunities, relationships, and resources belongs ultimately to Him. Scripture reminds believers that whoever is faithful with little will also be faithful with much. In a generation that often measures success through possessions, status, or online attention, the sermon shifted focus back to eternal values. Life is not ultimately about accumulating things. It is about stewardship and purpose. The congregation was challenged to define their values before pressure comes. Many people only discover what they truly believe when they face temptation, hardship, or success. Building godly values early creates stability during uncertain seasons. Another powerful reminder was that life on earth is temporary. Every assignment, position, and achievement has an expiration date. Eternity matters more than temporary applause. This perspective changes how believers live daily. It encourages humility, intentionality, and dependence on God rather than worldly success alone. Even during a joyful Youth Sunday filled with music, poetry, and celebration, the message remained deeply rooted in eternal truth: people are passing through this world, and their lives should point back to God. Apply for that course, pursue that opportunity, build that skill, or start that project you have been postponing. 3.Seek wise mentorship. Do not walk through life alone. Surround yourself with people who challenge you spiritually and help you grow. 4.Remain faithful in small responsibilities. Integrity in private moments prepares believers for greater assignments. 5.Do not allow failure to define you. Learn, rise again, and trust God with your journey. 6.Focus on eternal purpose more than temporary success. Careers, money, and achievements matter, but they should never replace God’s calling and character. 7.Most importantly, remember that your youth is not wasted when surrendered to God. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL 2026 – WALKING IN SUPERNATURAL POWER
This year’s Vacation Bible School was nothing short of extraordinary. Across Overcoming Faith Church branches, children gathered for four vibrant days filled with Bible lessons, memory verses, worship, creative activities, and moments that will stay with them for a lifetime. The theme Walking in Supernatural Power set the tone for an unforgettable week that stirred young hearts and deepened their understanding of who God is and what He can do through them. Children dove into the stories of Bible characters who moved in the power of God, discovering that the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in them. From riveting lessons to lively group activities, every session was designed to plant seeds of faith that will grow for years to come. And yes, there was even a dance choreography in line with the theme, because when you’re celebrating supernatural power, you celebrate with everything you’ve got! One of the most beautiful highlights of the week came from our Githurai 45 branch, where seven children decided to give their lives to Christ. Heaven rejoiced, and so did we. These seven precious souls are a reminder of why children’s ministry matters and why we press on with joy. At The House of Faith, Thika Road, it was a special privilege to spend time with the children and remind them of three powerful truths they must carry with them always: they are special, they are unique, and they carry potential. To every child in attendance, know that God has a beautiful and purposeful plan for your life. Dream big. Believe boldly. Never place a ceiling on what God can do through you. To the parents, thank you for trusting us with your children. Keep speaking life over them at home. Encourage them to grow, to believe, and to walk daily in the supernatural power that belongs to every child of God. When the Church Gathers, Heaven Responds On the same blessed morning, two powerful gatherings took place under the banner of Overcoming Faith Church, one in Murang’a, Mariani, and another in Githurai. In one room, daughters wept and travailed. In another, sons rose and sharpened one another. Both rooms shook with the same Spirit. Daughters of Faith Prayer Breakfast — Murang’a, Mariani In the rolling hills of Mariani, the Daughters of Faith gathered for a morning that no one present will soon forget. Women came from across the region, filling the room with an atmosphere of surrender, expectancy, and holy hunger. Under the ministry of Reverend Faith Ndungu, this was not a typical gathering; this was a meeting of wailing women who refused to be silent. The Holy Spirit moved powerfully from the very start. What began as a prayer breakfast quickly became a full encounter with God. Tears flowed freely, not tears of despair, but tears of intercession, faith, and declaration. Women prayed for one another, for their families, and for the nation. The call was clear: it is time for the Daughters of Faith to travail in prayer and say enough is enough. When Daughters of Faith meet, the atmosphere shifts. And on this morning in Mariani, heaven answered. Men of Destiny Prayer Breakfast — Githurai Across the city in Githurai, the Men of Destiny gathered for a morning that proved one thing beyond doubt: men are rising. Not by strength or status, but by the Spirit of God. The men came not just in numbers, but in hunger, unity, and purpose. A deeply stirring word on Spiritual Influence anchored the morning, calling every man to examine the mark he is leaving on his home, his community, and the Kingdom of God. Hearts were aligned, burdens were lifted, and purpose was awakened. Men prayed fervently for one another raw, honest, and powerful. Iron sharpened iron. The breakfast was heavy, rich, and worth waking up for. But it was what happened in the Spirit that truly fed every man in that room. To every man who showed up you are honoured. This is only the beginning. Two Rooms. One Move of God. Whether in Mariani or Githurai, whether daughters weeping or sons rising Overcoming Faith Church gathered with one heart, and God answered. Healing Hands, Willing Hearts: A Season of Divine Visitation “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3 What happens when faith meets medicine, and the love of Christ is poured out onto the streets of our community? We witness the miraculous! This past March, OFC Kenya was honored to host a powerful three-day Free Medical Camp and Community Outreach. In a glorious partnership with Jesse Kay Hospital and our brothers and sisters from Liberty University (USA), we saw the Word of God come to life. We didn’t just talk about the healing power of Jesus; we became His hands and feet. A Mission Without Borders From March 16th to 18th, across the landscapes of Nairobi and Kiambu, a divine assignment unfolded. We were guided by a simple but profound truth: our God cares for the whole person, Body, Mind, and Soul. The atmosphere was electric with hope. There were no bills, no barriers, and no appointments needed just a community coming together to receive the care and dignity they deserve as children of the Most High. Reaching the Next Generation: Juja Farm We kicked off this journey at Juja Farm, right next to Happy life Christian School. Our focus? The precious children. It was a joy to see young students, some nervous and others curious, walking into our wellness clinics. By the grace of God, these children didn’t just leave with health certificates and nutrition guides; they left with smiles that lit up the entire community. We believe that by pouring into the health of our children today, we are securing the strength of the Church tomorrow! A Tabernacle of Healing: OFC Blessed House The momentum shifted to OFC Blessed House (Opposite Garden City Mall) for two incredible days of full community service. It was a beautiful sight to see the OFC family and our neighbors gathered in unity. From expectant mothers receiving antenatal care to the elderly finding relief through optical and dental services, every consultation was a prayer answered. Through our partnership with Jesse Kay Hospital and the selfless nursing students from Liberty University, we offered: * General Consultations & Lab Tests * Dental Extractions & Optical Care * Cervical Cancer Screening & Ultrasounds * Nutritional Guidance & Maternal Health The Spirit of Servant Leadership We want to extend a special “Asante” to the team from Liberty University. These young healthcare professionals traveled across the globe, not just to practice medicine, but to serve. Watching them work side-by-side with the Jesse Kay clinical team was a true testament to the Global Body of Christ. They embodied the spirit of servant leadership that defines OFC. The Work Continues As the tents were packed away and the final patients were seen, we knew this wasn’t just an “event” it was a seed planted in fertile soil. Mission Week – 101 Souls Rescued
“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” — Mark 16:15 The Vision: Why We Go Overcoming Faith Church has always carried a singular conviction at its heart: the Great Commission is not a suggestion; it is a command. When Jesus declared in Mark 16:15, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature,” He issued a charge that every generation of believers must answer afresh. The Go Ye Mission was born from that conviction, our deliberate, prayerful response to a world that is perishing without the knowledge of Christ. We believe the Church does not merely exist within four walls; it is sent into streets, estates, and communities to the people who may never otherwise hear the Good News. This February, in partnership with the missionary team from the University of Nairobi, we answered that call in the heart of Roysambu. Ordinary believers, empowered by the Holy Spirit, walked in apostolic power, and God showed up in extraordinary ways. Before the first step was taken into the field, this word from 1 Samuel anchored the entire team and became the prophetic declaration over every day of the mission: “So David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?” And He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.” — 1 Samuel 30:8 We pursued. We overtook. And without fail, we recovered one hundred and one souls brought home to the Father. Event Details The Go Ye Mission took place from February 25th to March 1st, 2025, spanning five powerful days across Roysambu one of Nairobi’s most densely populated neighbourhoods. The mission was a joint effort between Overcoming Faith Church and the missionary team from the University of Nairobi, bringing together the local church and the academy in one unified apostolic purpose. The team moved through residential estates, set up open-air altars, and engaged residents in conversation, creating spaces across the neighbourhood where the gospel could be heard and hearts could be changed. Roysambu was not merely a location it was a mission field, and the team entered it with that full conviction: “Roysambu, we are here. The altar is being set. The ground is ready.” Mission Recap: How It Unfolded From the very first day, the Go Ye Mission carried the full atmosphere of a crusade. The church truck rolled out into the streets of Roysambu as a moving declaration a signal to every estate and every corner of the neighbourhood that the gospel had arrived. Mounted and moving, it became a rallying point, drawing attention, stirring curiosity, and announcing to all of Roysambu that something significant was happening in their streets. Music was at the very heart of how the mission moved. The music ministry filled the open air with vibrant, Spirit-filled praise, and the effect was immediate. People came out of their homes, others from their business. Neighbours stopped and gathered. Children ran toward the sound. And then, right there in the streets and open spaces of Roysambu, people began to dance. It was not a performance it was a celebration, a declaration that the joy of the Lord had come to the neighbourhood. The atmosphere was alive, electric, and unmistakably touched by the presence of God. As the music drew the crowds and the worship created an open atmosphere, the Word was preached with boldness and clarity. Altar calls were made right there in the open air on the streets, in the estates, among neighbours and strangers alike and people responded with open hearts. The crusade format proved to be exactly the right approach for Roysambu: it met people in their world, in their environment, and brought the presence and power of God directly to where they stood. One of the standout moments of the week came when the plans shifted mid-mission and the team moved to Ngumba estate, setting camp there and taking the Word directly to the residents. Rather than retreat when things changed, the team pressed in and God gave a remarkable victory. Many gave their lives to Christ in Ngumba that day, confirming what the team already knew: the Holy Spirit was leading every step, every route change, and every decision. By the close of the mission, 444 people had been reached with the gospel across Roysambu, and 101 souls had surrendered their lives to Christ. Every number is a name. Every name is a life. Every life is a miracle of grace. The harvest was plentiful and the team walked in nothing less than apostolic power. To God be all the glory. To every team member who gave their feet and their faith, to the music ministers who led the people in worship on the streets, to every intercessor who prayed, and to every partner who believed with us this victory belongs to all of you. You Were Made to Influence: Walking in the Power God Placed Within You Have you ever looked at someone and thought, “They just have that something, that ability to walk into a room and change the atmosphere”? We often associate influence with titles, platforms, or popularity. But what if influence was never about any of those things? What if the power to change your world was already placed inside you quietly, invisibly, and purposefully by God Himself? That is exactly what we unpacked at our Leaders Summit, and the truth that emerged was both simple and profound: Everyone is equipped today and is also influential, whether you know it or not. Main Scripture “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of flour till it was all leavened.” — Matthew 13:33 1. Influence Is Already Inside You One of the most liberating truths from this session is this you do not need to wait to become influential. You already are. The question is not whether you have influence, but how you are using it. Love is a kindness that loves without being equipped and if you love, you influence. Influence comes through community. Acts 2:40 reminds us that the early church grew because people were genuinely connected, and through that connection, lives were changed. 1 Corinthians 10:31 challenges us: whatever you do, do it for the glory of God. That is influence in its purest form not performing for an audience, but living with intentionality for an audience of One. Matthew 88 :13-20 further affirms that the way you behave, the way you show up, and the channel of influence you carry are all fulfilling God’s purpose as His disciples. Big influence starts small. The mustard seed tiny, seemingly insignificant grows into a tree large enough for birds to nest in. That is the Kingdom of God at work. Never despise your small beginnings. Your consistent, quiet faithfulness is already shifting things around you. 2. The Church Is an Agent of Change Here is a bold statement worth sitting with: The church is called to change the environment not to be changed by it. Matthew 5:13 calls the church salt. Salt does not become the food it transforms it. If salt loses its flavour, it becomes useless. The moment the church loses its influence, it loses its very purpose. Likewise, Matthew 5:14-16 reminds us that like a light on a hill, the church cannot be hidden. We are not called to blend in we are called to shine.Matthew 16:18-19 gives us the image of a key— and a key has the power of access. There is a key that will help you locate your destiny, and that key carries the power of influence. The more equipped you are, the more influential you become (Ephesians 4:11). The Kingdom of God spreads from within. It is invisible yet undeniable. Even when nothing seems to be happening on the surface, something is always happening beneath it. The results are undeniable transformation is taking place quietly, consistently, and comprehensively. 3. Discipleship and Mentorship Are the Keys to Lasting Influence Influence is not accidental it is intentional. Discipleship and mentorship are key. Philemon 1:2 and Colossians 4:15 remind us that we are the church not a building, but a people. We are called to be people of influence because we are part of the church. Acts 14:21-23 shows us that as we learn, grow, and receive messengers of truth, we are actually hosting something far greater than we realise as we entertain strangers, we have also entertained angels (Hebrews 13:2). Journey and mentorship are part of the process. For believers, tribulation is part of the testimony. Manage the gatherings the bonds, the church community because they influence your growth. God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:40). He calls us to stay as a family, arranged, and ordered managing our time and influence wisely. Practical Application This Week Here is your challenge coming out of the Leaders Summit: – Identify your sphere of influence — your home, workplace, social circle. How are you showing up there? – Be intentional about discipleship — invest in one person this week. Encourage, mentor, or simply spend time with someone who needs it. – Let love lead — remember, love is the foundation of all godly influence. Serve without waiting to feel equipped. – Don’t despise small beginnings— the leaven is already working. Stay faithful. Closing You were not placed on this earth to simply exist you were placed here to influence. Every act of kindness, every word of encouragement, every moment of faithful service is leaven quietly working through the world around you. The Kingdom of God starts small, moves silently, and transforms everything it touches. And so do you when you walk in the power and purpose God has already placed within you. Lord, help us to steward our influence with humility, love, and intentionality. May we be salt that preserves, light that shines, and leaven that transforms. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Night of Love, Laughter& Lasting Memories What a beautiful Valentine’s Eve it was at Overcoming Faith Church! The hall came alive in a stunning red and white theme, with red-draped tables, balloons, roses, and golden stanchions that set the perfect atmosphere for an evening of love and fellowship. The night kicked off with a warm welcome as members arrived dressed beautifully in red and white, ready to celebrate. Smiles and excitement filled the room from the very start. Guests were treated to refreshing drinks and a wonderful three-course meal, served with joy and care as the OFC family lined up eagerly, plates in hand, sharing in the warmth of the moment together. One of the most touching highlights of the evening was the gifting of roses and special presents, as members received bouquets with pure delight, laughter bursting out across the room with every surprise. The joy on each face was absolutely priceless! Groups raised their glasses in cheerful toasts, celebrating not just Valentine’s but the gift of being family in Christ. From the heartfelt moments at the table to the spontaneous laughter, the joyful poses for the camera, and the beautiful fellowship shared over a delicious meal, every moment radiated the love of God among His people. “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” — Psalm 133:1 Thank you to every single person who showed up and made this evening so vibrant and full of joy. Self-Care in Marriage Dear Beloved, We live in strange and confusing times where the definition of marriage has been redefined, misrepresented, and watered down. We hear of same-sex unions and contractual marriages—all contrary to the original design of God. Yet, we must always remember this truth: marriage is God’s idea. Marriage is sacred, God-ordained, and established as a covenant between man, woman, and God Himself. Like every covenant, marriage faces its own challenges. That is why books have been written about communication, intimacy, parenting, and finances. But one of the greatest lessons we learned during our recent Marriage Enrichment Retreat and Team Building in Juja Farm, is this: if the pressure is too much, talk to the right person. Don’t carry the weight alone. Self-Care is a Necessity Many couples mistakenly see self-care as a luxury—but in truth, self-care is a necessity. Without it, we burn out, lose our joy, and weaken the bond God intended marriage to be. Remember, there are things nobody can do for you. No one can rest for you. No one can exercise for you. And nobody—not even your spouse—can make you truly happy. Happiness is cultivated from within, anchored in God’s Word, and nourished by intentional habits. During our retreat, we explored five forms of self-care in marriage that every couple must practice: Physical Self-Care Take care of your body. Eat well, exercise, rest. Your physical health affects your emotional and spiritual connection. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 reminds us that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Social Self-Care Build healthy connections, not just with your spouse but with Kingdom-minded couples who can encourage you. Bad company corrupts good morals (1 Corinthians 15:33). Surround yourself with life-giving relationships. Spiritual Self-Care Prayer, worship, and time in the Word are fuel for your marriage. Remember, the couple that prays together stays together. Joshua 24:15 – “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Emotional Self-Care Learn to process your emotions. Don’t bottle up frustrations until they explode. Instead, communicate with grace, patience, and love. Ephesians 4:26 says, “Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.” Mental Self-Care Practice mindfulness and guard your thoughts. Be intentional about what you feed your mind. Avoid comparisons, unrealistic expectations, or toxic distractions. Romans 12:2 calls us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Reflection Self-care in marriage is not selfish—it is stewardship. When you take care of yourself, you give your spouse a healthier, stronger, and more joyful partner. As we concluded this incredible weekend of bonding, fun, laughter, and teaching, we were reminded once again that marriage thrives when couples prioritize growth, wellness, and godliness together.
