Who Has Your Back?
My verse of encouragement and challenge to you today addresses something we engage in daily without a thought. Also something we rarely give thought to. Matthew 6:25-26 commands us thus: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”
These scriptures do not tell us not to make plans for our tomorrow; neither do they tell us not to rise up and work for our food and everything else. We definitely must plan, execute, monitor our life progress, review and make changes as necessary. However, we need to do all this with a deep conviction that God cares for us, He is our provider and our help in every situation. That leads to trust and an attitude of rest even in our daily labors. As you wake up in the morning please pay attention to the eager and enthusiastic yapping of birds and be reminded that the God who feeds them cares so much for you and you are more valuable than those birds. He has your back; He calls you to love Him and trust Him.
