Gleanings For The Soul:

Easter Special

As I reflect on the Easter season and Christ’s finished work I have come across this verse from John 16:7 “But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.”
Jesus spoke these words to His sad and anxious disciples during the Last Supper. He told them plainly about His death and the fact that the three-year period of close fellowship, mentorship and great miracles among them was coming to a close! They were sad! But He also made them a promise to send the Holy Spirit. As we continue with the Bible story and the life of the early Church even to our day, we can surely attest that it was good that Jesus left the earth physically. His work continues today in our lives and all over the world. The disciples themselves went on to do great things for God’s kingdom. Just over 52 days after His death and resurrection, they had a great harvest of 3000 people and on and on…
What’s your situation today? While it may feel like the worst season of your life, you can choose to trust Jesus that it will not last forever and it may be for your good after all. Jesus is alive and at work in your life. Ask the Holy Spirit to comfort, strengthen and empower you to go through it. Ask Him to walk with you. He is an ever-present help in times of trouble… Happy Easter!
